Security and Technology Ramblings…

I normally don’t like to read long and involved “rant” forum threads, but this one is pretty interesting.

Seems that there is a user on the forums “Daniel_K” that took it upon himself to modify drivers so that they will work better with existing Creative Labs products.

Guess there is two sides to this coin… On one side, you have the company’s IP (Intellectual Property) and copyright to contend with. If they don’t support existing cards well in Vista, then I guess they believe that people will go and buy their newer cards.

But, it appears that even some of their products that claim to be “Vista Ready” in fact are not. Read the thread your self to better understand the issue.

Then, on the other side of that coin, I’d hate to be one of those customers that has to throw away a perfectly good video or sound card only because they would not write a driver for it.

In the end, I think this will hurt the company more than it will help them. This issue has already been picked up on Digg, Reddit, Slashdot and others to name a few…
